<p>At one time, newspapers were built on two pillars of revenue, commercial in page advertising and classified advertising. But over the past fifteen years, that&#8217;s changed, and marketers have begun to realize that the old way of doing business is no longer working.</p>
<p>When working with consumer based markets, such as mortgage marketing, it is important to understand where the potential customers are most actively looking for information. Years ago, it was in the newspaper, but the immediacy of the online news cycle has made it impossible for newspapers to stay relevant from a timeliness perspective.</p>
<p>As people have made the move to online sources to obtain their news, that has pulled them away from printed newspapers. The introduction of online classifieds was a natural progression for readers, as it put the ads right where they were spending their most time. Classifieds had the same advantages as other online media, in that publication is fast and flexible, and access is global.</p>
<p>What this means is that anyone advertising a consumer service such as mortgage marketing, must have a solid grasp of the new rules of conduct for online classified ads. Contrary to what one may think, it is not simply a wholesale replacement of print classifieds. Certain verbiage and phrases should be avoided, because people have learned that specific red flags may indicate online scams or untrustworthy advertisers. Advertisers who want to get as much response as possible from their online classified ad must take pains to make sure they are seen as credible advertisers.</p>
<p>The overall effect of the ubiquitous availability of online classified ads as well as the speed of online publishing created a massive migration of readers to the web. The businesses and individuals who normally would advertise using print classifieds soon found that the pool of readers was much larger in the online world than in print, so of course they followed suit and also moved to the digital medium. All of this combined to create a scenario that spelled doom for print advertisers and their classified ad offerings. In what must have seemed like an overnight occurrence, the newspaper business, successful for over a century, quickly saw bottom lines plummet.</p>
<p>While some newspapers are still operating, staffing levels have dropped dramatically and many smaller papers have shuttered their operations. It is currently thought that it is just a matter of until the newspaper business dries up completely.</p>

<p>With as many as ninety-one percent of all U.S. households regularly using email, marketing within the growing medium is quickly gaining popularity due to the high number of people that can be reached. In fact, email marketing popularity is growing because it is a tool that has worked and continues to work for countless businesses across the country. In 2009, on average, U.S. companies generated almost $44 for every dollar they spent on email marketing campaigns, highlighting the effectiveness of such campaigns despite the bad rap given to spam.</p>
<p>One of the most successful ways of using email marketing to generate leads is by developing an internal email list of past customers who may be interested in purchasing additional products or services from a company they trust. An email list comprised of previous customers is much more cost effective than seeking new customers. Companies will spend as much as ten times more resources gaining a new customer than they will if marketing to current clients.</p>
<p>Another method of using lead generation to develop cliental is to purchase email lists for use as a tool to acquire leads. Companies can use email marketing to provide potential customers with information about the business and build the brand in order to create a sense of familiarity. Additionally, email lead generation is a great way to bring increased traffic to company websites, which also increases the chance that a buyer will call or contact the company.</p>
<p>Though email marketing is an obvious money saver and has been shown to be an effective way to generate leads for a variety of companies offering diverse goods and services, it is also a positive marketing tool due to the ease of tracking. Results from an email marketing campaign is easily measured, showing whether they are successful or whether a company must make changes and tweaks in the operations. Email advertising efforts are measured by how many people open the emails sent by the company. The success rate of an email campaigns success can also be tracked by how many receivers click through to a website.</p>
<p>Newsletters, coupons, special offers and information regarding business changes and new offerings can all be sent immediately to hundreds and even thousands of potential customers with the click of a mouse. Because email marketing campaigns can be completed with such quickness, companies will often see immediate responses unlike results from traditional advertising mediums like television.</p>
<p>Offering quick, easy and effective campaigns, email marketing is continuing to gain popularity and use for a reason: it works. With measurability and ease of tracking, companies and business owners can be sure that their efforts are effective and quickly notice when changes need to be made. In the midst of technologically centered consumers, email is a vital way to expand advertising and marketing aspirations and gain successful sales leads to grow any business.</p>

<p>The Yellow Pages section of the traditional telephone book has been a simple advertising technique since the invention of the direct-dial telephone. The ad listings are generally so benign that some professionals, such as attorneys, would use the Yellow Pages exclusively as a form of advertising for ethical reasons.</p>
<p>Newspaper ads have also been a very traditional form of marketing for locally based businesses. But the mortgage marketing industry has become very competitive in the midst of the housing crisis and mortgage marketers find themselves developing a more comprehensive marketing plan for product movement. Though newspapers are still part of the media outlet combination, the Yellow Pages are becoming a victim of changing times in many circumstances.</p>
<p>Today&#8217;s mortgage marketers are much more internet savvy and realize that the market size has been enhanced by instant and broad communication ability. Potential customers are also being steered from traditional forms of information. The telephone book itself, though it is still issued for those who are not yet cyber-connected, is possibly becoming outdated, also.</p>
<p>Contemporary mortgage marketers develop a marketing message and find their target audiences. After they implement the advertising plan they make every effort to track their results. The housing market collapse has been a nightmare for many in the industry, but the natural correction of the market creates new sales opportunities and, for many potential customers, this is the time to buy.</p>
<p>Merely having a listing in the Yellow Pages is no longer the best of marketing plans, though the Yellow Pages are accessable via the internet. In smaller communities where the mortgage marketers can rely on local top-of-mind-awareness, a simple Yellow Pages listing may be as effective as any other, depending on volume and goal. But if the goal is based on increased sales and growth of the business, it is imperative to broaden the advertising scope and direct the mission at developing as many leads as possible.</p>
<p>Of course, as long as the good old-fashioned phone book is still printed, there is nothing wrong with developing a traditional Yellow Pages advertising plan as a backup. One advantage is the ability to list cell phone numbers within the advertisement. Another advantage is the fact that conventional customers still buy, just like the cyber community, and marketing is still about getting the message out to as many people as possible. But, merely having a Yellow Pages listing is often ineffective.</p>

They can advertise in print media such as newspapers and magazines, make direct contact with the public through conferences and events and give out cards or flyers or become known in a community through charity work or community service.</p>
<p>Services for lead generation provide advertising and outreach for a fee. They often use pamphlets or websites about local businesses. Promotional items are another way they use to get interest in a company. People always like something for free, and if it is a useful item, they will see the businesses name often.</p>
