To calculate a customer's lifetime value, you need to know:

  • Cost of goods that the customer bought
  • Cost of marketing to reach the customer

Cost to acquire a customer = cost of reaching a prospect /average response

Profit margin on 1st sale = average 1st order repeat sales x average margin

1st investment = customer acquisition cost - profit margin on 1st sale

Lifetime ROI = Present value of future profit - initial investment to acquire customer

To factor in value of referral business also over a customer's lifetime, assume the rate is the same as the increased response rate. For example, if 10 out of 100 customers respond (10% response rate) and 3 out of 100 customers refer a new customer(3% of customers) then this should be considered equal to a 13% response rate.

Overture bids can be anywhere from $.05 - $10.00/click depending on the keyword's competitiveness with Overture recently announcing their average bid was $.19 in September, 2001.
The other Pay Per Click Search Engines we like to use are FindWhat and
Ah-Ha. Bids on these can be anywhere from $.05 - $.50 with most keywords available for $.05-$.10 per click still.

17. What is your directory enhancement service?
We submit your site to Yahoo using their $299 Annual Express Submission service, to Looksmart using their $299 Express Submission service, and to Open Directory using their free Add URL service. Getting listed in the directories is very important because you can get a lot of traffic from the directory listings themselves, from the search engines that display directory listings alongside their own listings, and from search engines giving a rankings boost for link popularity as major directory listings represent about the most valuable incoming link a site could have. Submitting to just the right category with just the right description and with the site being designed just right at the time of submission requires a lot of expertise. Failure to perform any of these optimally can lead to rejection of the site or can lead the directory editors to list your site but change the category or description you asked. This can be worse at times than rejection since requesting changes to your listing is extremely difficult.

18. What are the costs of the media buys we commonly make?
Most media buys we make are in the range of $.20-$.50 depending on your industry. You just tell us how much monthly keyword targeted traffic you want and we will get it for you at below the average cost per click rate you determine you can afford to pay.

19. What website metrics can we track?
